The Story Behind the Medal
The Unhinged Medal-orium was born in 2025, as an evolution from the Unhinged Emporium which had been trading various handmade Steampunk themed items since 2020.
Having thought about making medals for a long time, we went through various creative processes to find a technique that gave us a high quality, secure product that also appealed to our love of not making the exact same thing more than once! While we often do medals on a theme or that complement each other, we have a large repertoire of medals that are governed by the fabric and accessories we find.
We source fabrics, adornments and decorations from charity shops, second hand sales, as well as buying new to create sustainable, well-crafted medals that are truly all one of a kind. The Unhinged Medal-Orium debuted at the largest steampunk event in the universe, Asylum AXV, and is now available online and at in-person events for all your medal-based needs.

The spirit of the workshop is shaped as much by family as it is by fabric — and that warmth is woven into every medal that leaves the workbench.

Recycled & Repurposed
We source fabrics, adornments and decorations from charity shops and second-hand sales, as well as buying new. Sustainable, thoughtfully-made pieces you can feel good about.
Truly One-of-a-Kind
Our repertoire is governed by the fabrics and accessories we find - meaning no two medals are ever quite the same. Once a piece is gone, it’s gone.

The Unhinged Medal-Orium is made for the steampunk, gothic and alternative communities - the people who understand that an outfit isn't complete without the right finishing touch.
There's also the option to custom order medals. Whether you're looking to match an outfit or have a fabulous piece of fabric you know would be perfect, we can always create something splendid. Generally we would need a piece of fabric about A4 size - please get in touch if we can help with a special request.
